Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd is looking to recruit a suitable applicant as a Project Officer. We are seeking an energetic client-focussed individual with a positive and flexible approach. Headland is a completely independent private company where we think it is essential to balance culture with commerce. You will be looking to increase your exposure to this commercial, client-focussed approach.
Work will involve conducting a wide range of archaeological investigations including office-based research and analysis, field-based surveys and excavations throughout the UK. Candidates must be able to demonstrate at least two years relevant experience and the potential to meet the following criteria:
As a Project Officer you will be expected to:
# Have a broad understanding of current policy and guidance relating to commercial archaeology throughout the UK.
# Contribute to the development of Project Designs in collaboration with a Senior Archaeologist or Project Manager.
# Take responsibility, under supervision of a Senior Archaeologist or Project Manager, for planning and successful execution of agreed Project Designs for a large variety of fieldwork projects.
# Liaise with clients, curators and fellow archaeologists in a professional manner.
# Supervise a large team of staff.
# Take responsibility for executing successful post-excavation programmes, including instructing specialists and colleagues.
# Produce clear, concise and accurate reports.
# Take responsibility for your own CPD.
# Engage in the wider company strategy and development
# Applicants must hold a clean driving licence and preferably members of the IfA.
Our South & East office is moving due to expansion and you will be based at that new office at Wrest Park, Silsoe, Bedfordshire and you will be required to work away at other locations regularly.
A clothing allowance will be provided for the purchase of suitable footwear and work clothing. If working away Headland will provide transport, overnight accommodation and subsistence.
