Collections Specialist / Greek and Roman
General Description:
The project consists of accessioning, cataloguing in TMS, and photographing the gift made by the late Dierich von Bothmer to the Greek and Roman Department of over 10,000 Greek vase fragments. The person to be hired full-time will be responsible principally for entering the basic catalogue information for each fragment or group of related fragments into TMS. He/she will also be checking that the accession numbers are assigned correctly, and that the correct photograph is attached to each accessioned piece. The end date of the position is 9/30/17.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Entering catalogue information for every fragment/group of fragments into TMS
• Working with photographer to check that correct image is attached to each piece
• Working with Registrar to check that numbers are correctly assigned
• Other related duties

Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience and Skills:
• Ability to identify on sight the shapes, subjects, and if possible the painters of predominantly Attic vase fragments
• Capacity for sustained, meticulous, systematic attention to detail
• Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of TMS
• Ability to work smoothly within a team

Knowledge and Education:
• Advanced graduate student or Ph.D. specializing in Athenian vase-painting required
• Excavation experience from a Greek site preferred
